Lessons for people who have never driven before, and for people who already have a licence and need to refresh, upgrade or convert.
Pick the path that matches your situation. Each path lists the lessons we offer.
We start exactly where you stand. Whether you have never sat in the driver's seat or you have done a few hours with family, we meet you there and build from the ground up.
Over your lessons, we take you from quiet suburban streets through to busy main roads, every type of parking, and full-speed highway driving. By the time you are ready for your test, you will be ready for the real world too.
Pass the test, get your licence, and go explore. Adelaide is just the start.
Every lesson with us counts towards your SA logbook hours and is signed on the spot. Starting point: a 1-hour first lesson at $100. See prices for lesson packs and our Test-Ready Package.
Overseas licence, returning driver, or out of practice? We start where you stand. A short assessment first, so we are not selling you lessons you do not need.
We watch you drive, map the gaps against SA test standards, then focus only on what you actually need. No padding, no unnecessary hours.
The goal: safe Australian driving habits and the confidence to pass the VORT. Most experienced drivers need 2 to 7 hours.
Starting point: a 45-minute assessment at $80. We tell you honestly how many lessons you need after we have seen you drive. See prices for assessment and lesson rates.
You can't book driving lessons with us (or anyone) until you hold a valid Learner's Permit. To get one, you need to pass the South Australian Theory Test. This is a Service SA process, not something we run.
Do it from home via your mySAGOV account. Takes around 4 hours total. Free retakes within your 12-month subscription. Most learners pass this way.
50 questions (8 give-way diagrams + 42 multiple choice). You pay the fee each attempt. Bring evidence of identity.
Quick answer: If you don't have your L's yet, do the Theory Test first (Service SA or myLs online). Once you have your Learner's Permit, come to us for the driving part. If you already have your L's or any other licence, you're ready to book straight away.
Whether you are a learner or already licensed, the journey looks the same. We just adjust the depth based on where you are.
Learners book a 1-hour first lesson ($100). Experienced drivers book a 45-minute assessment ($80). In both cases we get a clear picture of your driving and any gaps against SA test standards.
After your first session we tell you honestly:
We work through the plan together. For learners, every lesson is signed into your logbook. For experienced drivers, we focus only on the gaps we found. When you are ready, we help you prepare for the VORT and test day.
We will not book the final VORT for you through us until we have seen you drive. Booking a test for a driver we have not assessed risks a fail, which costs you the test fee and your time, and damages the trust we have built with our students.
If you are confident and only want help booking the test, we are happy to point you to authorised examiners directly so you are not paying us for something that is not in your interest.
This is the question everyone asks first, and the honest answer is "it depends". Every learner is different. Below are the patterns we see most often, based on years of training drivers in Adelaide. These are guides, not promises, which is exactly why we start with an assessment.
Most beginners who have never driven before need 4 to 6 hours of lessons with us before they can safely handle the car. That means stopping at the kerb without hitting it, and turning corners without getting too wide or too tight.
From there they practise with a supervisor (usually a family member). Typically they are ready for the test after 10 to 20 lesson hours with us, while logging their required 75 hours of supervised practice in their logbook.
If you have no family member or supervising driver available between lessons, we typically get learners to a safe driving standard in up to 15 lesson hours.
The 75-hour SA logbook minimum still applies, including 15 hours at night. The extra hours genuinely build confidence and are what stand between a learner driver and a safe solo driver, so they are worth doing properly.
Experienced drivers typically need 2 to 7 lesson hours, provided they practise between sessions to build good Australian driving habits.
The exact number varies depending on country of origin, prior driving knowledge and attitude. Drivers who have been driving in Australia for a long time in a safe, responsible way often need significantly fewer hours. This is why an assessment session is the right starting point.
You will still need an assessment session with us, even if an examiner told you that you were close to passing. We take this seriously because we have seen it many times.
After a fail, examiners sometimes tell a driver "you would have passed if not for that one mistake". This is sometimes true, and sometimes a gentle way of softening difficult news so the driver does not lose heart. Both are kind responses from the examiner, but neither tells us what the underlying gap really is.
The only way to know is to see you drive ourselves and build a plan from there. That is what the assessment session is for.
Note: hours are typical ranges, not guarantees. Actual training time depends on your learning ability, how often you practise between lessons, and your prior experience. The 75-hour SA logbook minimum (with 15 hours at night) applies to all learners regardless of training hours with us. Current rules apply until the SA driver training reforms take effect in 2027.
